After visiting Wangwu Ancient Village, have you ever wondered what the residents who originally lived in Wangwu Village are like now? Wong Uk Estate, originally located on the west bank of Yuen Chau, had a small population and belonged to the "Sha Tin Nine Village". In the 1990s, the Hong Kong government granted the Wong Uk Estate site to real estate developers to develop large hotels, and moved Wong Uk Estate to its current location on Yuen Chau Kok Road at the end of the street, near Shatin Road. The small ancestral hall originally located on the left side of Wang Qing's mansion in the ancient village has now been built as a new "Wang Family Ancestral Hall". There is also a "Taishan Shigandang" stone tablet next to the ancestral hall. When it comes to "Taishan Stones", there are many legends. One of them is that in ancient times, it was believed that the stones from Mount Tai in Dongyue have unique spirituality and divine power. This belief can be regarded as a kind of spiritual stone worship since ancient times. Legend has it that during the Han Dynasty, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty climbed Mount Tai and brought back four Taishan stones, which were placed in the four corners of the palace to calm the palace and ward off evil spirits. Since then, "Taishan Stone" has been considered to have the power to protect homes. Later, Taishan stone was personified, and its surname was Shi Gandang, also known as General Shi. Later, Shi Gandang with carved human figures was developed. The design of the Taishan Stone Gandang in Wangwu Village is relatively simple, but seeing the new decorations and offerings placed around the stone stele, I believe that the villagers still attach great importance to this sacred stone that bless Wangwu Village.
