After leaving Nan Lian Nunnery and walking for about ten minutes, you will arrive at Chai Yi Garden. At first glance, it seems to be an ordinary housing estate. But it turns out that the predecessor of Caiyi Garden was a military camp that had nothing to do with it now. Choi Yee Garden was originally a village in Sha Di Wai, one of the thirteen townships in Kowloon.
In 1950, Rainbow Military Camp was completed. Before the handover of Hong Kong sovereignty in 1997, the military barracks and land were returned to the government. Later, in order to provide more residential units, the military barracks was demolished and a living housing estate - Cai Yi Garden was built in 2000.
